Who we are

Craft, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and excellence.

More than just numbers

We are a remote team, spread across four states, but it honestly feels more like family. We have learned to grow and work together remotely, sharing our love for the great outdoors, quality output, and helping others succeed.

Meet our team

Rachel Smith, CPA

Founder & Director

Rachel Smith was introduced to the wine industry in 2006 when she moved to Chelan to start an organic vegetable farm and market.  As events had it, she also ended up helping establish a small family winery on the south shore of Lake Chelan.  As a farm and wine entrepreneur, Rachel learned to love the business of management.

The wine industry proved the perfect nexus of agriculture, art, and entrepreneurship. She returned to graduate school to expand her accounting knowledge and earn her CPA credential.

In 2017, Rachel joined with Chelan native Rachael Goldie to found a remote bookkeeping company under the name Books on Point.  In 2023, Books on Point made the commitment to focus exclusively on wineries and rebranded as Northwest Wine Accounting.

Rachel studied at the University of Chicago, North Seattle College, and Sonoma State University. Outside of work, she loves classical music education, reading and research, getting in the mountains, cycling, and games and puzzles of all sorts. She is mom to two amazing girls.

Haley Woods, CPA, MPA

Client Controller, Accounting Team Lead

Haley is a CPA with a Master's in Professional Accounting from the University of Washington. Originally from Florida, she moved to Washington state with her now husband to attend graduate school in Seattle. She spent some time living in Wenatchee and teaching accounting at Wenatchee Valley College. She recently returned to Chattanooga, Tennessee, to be closer to family, but central Washington (and its wines!) will always have a special place in her heart.

Haley loves being outside and is an avid rock climber. She also has a knack for interior design and loves finding and restoring old pieces of furniture.

Isabel Kitchen

Isabel is currently completing her Bachelor's degree in accounting from Eastern Oregon University. Originally from Colombia, she relocated to California and attended culinary school, where she gained over a decade of experience in the restaurant industry before eventually settling in Oregon. Her passion for the business management side of restaurant operations inspired her to pursue a career in accounting.

When she isn't crunching numbers or honing her culinary skills, Isabel can be found exploring the great outdoors of Oregon through trail running, hiking, and camping in all types of weather. She loves to relax by immersing herself in a book or indulging in one of her favorite podcasts.

Taylor Rebora

Client Services Manager

Born and raised in Chicago, Taylor got her start in the wine industry working in production and hospitality at an urban winery. This passion led her to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where she studied Wine & Viticulture with a concentration in Wine Business. Her studies prompted her to pursue a career in winemaking, which allowed her to travel and work across California, New Zealand, South Africa and lastly, Oregon where she currently resides. Taylor's experience working with different wineries has given her a deep understanding of the day to day challenges that many producers face. Her interest in problem solving led her to a path in accounting, with the goal of being able to help small wineries succeed and make the best financial decisions.

Jason Fox

Compliance Specialist

An Indiana native, Jason Fox attended Indiana University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology in 2006. Seeking a better future, Jason relocated from Indiana to Walla Walla, WA in 2011 to attend the Walla Walla Community College wine production program and graduated from that program in 2013 with a degree in Enology and Viticulture. Upon graduation, he started a small winery named Lagana Cellars that currently produces a total of 1000 cases of white and red wines a year.

From the outset, Jason has kept the bookkeeping and compliance paperwork in house, eventually beginning to work with other wineries in 2021 due to his experience and expertise. He now works with nearly 20 wineries, mostly small operations, as an independent compliance agent. In 2024 Jason joined the team at Northwest Wine Accounting to further assist the wineries of the Pacific Northwest.
